E-file quarter and yearend payroll returns

I want to e-file my clients quarterly and year end payroll returns this year, I had previously paper field them.

I use QuickBooks desktop to process the client's payroll information. Do I need to obtain a 10 digit IRS Pin for each company or do I obtain one 10 digit IRS pin to file every one of my clients payroll returns? I have about 10 companies to file returns for.

THanks

Thanks for posting, @FredCPAstlouis.

I'll share some information about e-filing payroll forms. When setting up e-file and e-pay, you'll have to enroll each for each of your companies. You only need to enroll in EFTPS once. If you’re not sure if you’re enrolled, contact the IRS 1.800.555.4477.

Here's how to enroll:

  1. Go to EFTPS.gov and select the Enrollment tab. Follow onscreen instructions to submit your enrollment.
  2. Within 7 to 10 business days, you'll receive your PIN and enrollment number by mail.
  3. When you receive your 4-digit EFTPS PIN:
    1. Go to EFTPS.gov.
    2. Select the Login tab.
    3. Enter the information needed (EIN, 4-digit EFTPS PIN, bank account, or last eight digits of your enrollment number), and continue with the process to create your password.

After that, proceed with Step 2: Schedule and set up your tax payments to e-pay. Please refer to this article for details: Set up Federal e-file and e-pay in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced.

Once you're done, you can now start paying and filing your federal taxes electronically. Check this guide: E-file and e-pay federal forms and taxes in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced.
