Efile State SUI NC

I am trying to efile NC SUI reports.  I have done this for years.  I go through the process and when the excel file fills in there are no names or SSN in any of the columns and there is a very long list of amounts that have no bearing on the client file.   This has occurred in both 2019 and 2020 versions of Accountant QB.  We are (and have been) using Office 365 (locally installed).  We filed the fourth quarter of 2020 with no issues.  Further, when we summarize payroll in excel, on the state tab there used to be a working drop down menu to show SUTA, FUTA - now the default is extra medicare withholding (which is useless for most people I would think) and there is no drop down menu.   This is really unacceptable.  The integration between QB and Excel is getting worse.   BTW - the statement writer will only work with Excel 2013 or older - another waste of time using an ancient laptop with that version on it.    How to we fix this and why do I want to continue to be a ProAdvisor and recommend a product to my clients that does not work.

This isn’t what I want to you experience with QuickBooks, Lisa.

 

I'll make it up to you by making sure you'll be able to e-file your state SUI NC seamlessly

 

I recommend updating your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) and payroll tax table to the latest release. Outdated software can cause issues within your file resulting in poor performance. Updating it is the quick fix as this installs the latest features and fixes. 

 

Let me walk you through the steps:

 

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Select the Update Now tab. 
  3. Click Get Updates to start the download.
  4. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.
  5. Accept the option to install the new release when prompted.

Then to update your payroll tax table, you can refer to the steps provided in this article: Get the latest payroll tax table update.

 

If this is not the case, I suggest running the Verify Rebuild tool. This scans your company file for issues and resolves them right away.

 

Once everything is all set up, you can now efficiently E-file your state SUI NC.

Thanks that did get the report for my state unemployment.  However, the issue with the "summarize in excel" still does not work.  Attached are screenshots of what we see when trying to open this.  Some of the other options to go to excel do not work either.

I appreciate you for getting back and providing a screenshot here in the Community. Let me share some updates about this unexpected behavior.

 

Currently, we're receiving reports from other users about an error when using Summarize Payroll Data in Excel feature. Rest assured that our product engineers are actively working to get this issue resolved. 

 

In line with this, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Care Team. They can add your company to the list of affected users.

 

This ensures you're in the loop about the investigation's status and its fix. Our Customer Support Team for Basic, Enhanced or Standard Payroll is available from 6 AM - 6 PM PT (Monday - Friday) and any time, any day for Assisted Payroll.

 

Here's how you can reach them:

 

  1. Go to Help from the top menu. 
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help. 
  3. Choose Contact Us in the Have a Question? window. 
  4. Give a brief description of your payroll concern.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Choose the best option to connect with a live agent.
