I run a Bi-weekly payroll for our company with 35 employees that work at two different restaurant locations.  I want to keep P/R expenses for each restaurant separate by class without having to run two payrolls and cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this.

You've come to the right place for help, @ekusie. Thank you so much for the information on what you are looking for; it really helps. I'm here to offer you insight and recommendations for managing payroll while still keeping your two restaurants separated by class. Let's work together to ensure you have all the details you need for a smooth process.

In QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, you can track classes in two ways: by the Entire paycheck or by Earning itemsWhen you use the Entire paycheck method, you apply the same hourly pay rate for each location. On the other hand, the Earning item method allows you to assign different hourly pay rates for each location.

If you create unique earning items for each location, you can process payroll in one go. However, if the same earning items are used for all employees, you'll need to run payroll separately for each location. This ensures clear and accurate tracking of hours worked and pay.

For more details, see this article: Set up and track your payroll expenses by class and proceed to QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

In addition to this, I recommend exploring this resource: Create, access, and modify Memorized Reports. This material provides step-by-step guidance on how to effectively create and manage reports tailored to your needs. This will save you time, as you won't need to customize your reports every time.

Feel free to return to our forum any time if you have other questions or need clarifications about running payroll in QuickBooks Desktop. My team and I are here to assist you, and we’re more than happy to help. Wishing you a wonderful day and continued success with your restaurants!
