Question

Employee ID, where is this number generated from and do you have it connected with Outlook? If so I'd love some ideas on how to connect QuickBooks to Outlook.

I'd like to leverage the Employee ID, Department, work location, job title, manager fields and push them to Outlook so then all the data is in sync.... or do I need to maintain this information in Outlook and feed back to quickbooks? Unsure how to do this.

Hello there, Let me help clarify your concern about where the employee ID is generated and how to connect QuickBooks Online to Outlook, @jthomas.

The Employee ID is a unique identifier code that enables employers to track employment information and payroll records efficiently and ensure the security of employee identities. The is the person who can employer assign this numeric code to an individual employee.

To ensure that your QuickBooks data is accurately reflected in your Outlook account, I recommend using a third-party application to synchronize the two platforms. This way, you can be sure that your financial and email data are always up-to-date and easily accessible in one place. To do so, here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account.
  2. Select the Apps tab on your left navigation bar.
  3. Search for the app you wish to connect or browser category to search for by category.

If you need help you in inputting your employee's year-to-end paycheck info, you can visit this article: Add pay history to QuickBooks Online Payroll.
