2022 update and now employees with iPhone's get the paystub as a winmail.dat file and can't open their paystub, why isn't it coming in as a pdf?

Let's get the employee paycheck file fix, @wdrilling.

I have various steps to ensure your employees receive their paystubs in PDF format using their iPhones.

Are you using Outlook as your email provider? If so, your employees will encounter this issue when the recipient's email client is unable to receive a rich text format (.rtf).

To fix this, let's configure your Outlook format. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Open your Outlook and click the File menu.
  2. Select the Options button and choose Mail
  3. Change the Compose messages in this format into HTML or Plain text. Thus, Outlook will prevent attaching a Winmail.dat file when you send an email.
  4. Click OK

After that, re-send the paycheck to your employees to verify if it's performing well. If the issue persists, I'd suggest using another email besides an Outlook email. Here's an article for more information and the steps on how to set up your email service in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you're using a different email provider, please let me know in the comment section. This way, I can provide the most appropriate troubleshooting steps to fix the issue.

In addition, QuickBooks created an account intended for employees. From there, they can see their paystubs and W-2s online. To know more about the process, click this article: Invite your employees to QuickBooks Workforce to see pay stubs, W-2s and more.

Keep me posted if there's anything I can help with your accounts in QuickBooks. I'm always around whenever you need help. Keep safe, wdrilling.
