I am having an issue with an employee and their Social Security Number.  It is a correct number but Quickbooks doesn't like it.  What do I do to get past this?

Let’s sort out your concern about adding a Social Security number (SSN) in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @Gagaloo

Since setting up an employee requires you to enter an SSN, I’ll share with you the options available to identify if we enter the correct number. The first one is by using the Social Security Number Verification Service, or directly contacting the IRS.

Also, please take note not to use the Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) in place of the SSN. It could be that you’re incorrectly adding this number causing the application to detect it as an error.

Once you have the correct numbers, please follow the steps in this article to continue: Add your new employee to QuickBooks Payroll.

Moreover, if you have encountered an error, would you mind telling me what error code it is? Or could you add a snapshot? Additional information is much appreciated.
