When entering a new employee under the tax information there is a check mark box if the employee marked a box on the w4 you are supposed to check yes. Is this required? Is it okay not to check it? What is the purpose of this box? I got told at work not to check this box for our clients employees. Please help and thank you for any information.

Employers are required to withhold federal income tax for each employee based on how they fill out the W-4. 

 

QuickBooks duplicates the fields on the W-4 that matter for tax calculation and reporting.

 

So, be sure to mirror whatever it is the employee does on the W-4 in QuickBooks.
