I'm here to ensure you're able to export employee checks from QuickBooks Online to Desktop for Mac, @jheselius.

In preparing your transactions in a spreadsheet file, make sure that the items on it match the template on QuickBooks. This way, you'll be able to export them successfully.

To do this, here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu, then choose Import.
  2. Select Transactions and the transaction type you want to import.
  3. Choose the gear menu, then click Export Table Template.
  4. Enter a name, then save the template. This downloads the template in a .CSV (spreadsheet) file.
  5. Open the template on your spreadsheet application.
  6. Attach your transactions to the template, then save your work.

When you’re ready, here’s how to import your transactions.

  1. Open your spreadsheet file.
  2. In QuickBooks, go to File, then select Import.
  3. Choose Transactions, then the transaction type you want to import.
  4. Copy the transactions from your spreadsheet and paste them on the import window.
  5. If everything looks right, click Import.

If the same thing happens, you can use an IIF file as another option.

  1. Go to the QuickBooks payroll website.
  2. Choose the employees and then the paycheck list.
  3. Click on the box to the left of the paycheck you want to export.
  4. Look for 3 boxes Print/Export to Accounting/Void
  5. Click Export to Accounting.

Hi there, rtovinpainting.

Welcome to QuickBooks Community. This isn't the kind of impression that I'd like you to have, and we know how much time it can take when something isn’t working the way you need it. With this, I'll be sharing different details about exporting Online Payroll to QuickBooks for Mac to ensure your matter be addressed.

Standalone Payroll Product, QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP), and QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac have various platforms. The QBOP version is both payroll and accounting software combined. If you're using the said version, you'll have to manually export your file from QBO to start sending your payroll data. Then, import them to your QBDT for the Mac company file. While doing this, I suggest downloading and using import kits so you can easier transfer data to and from different platforms to better manage company records in QuickBooks.

Before you import, I suggest to back up your company file. This is to ensure that you’ll be able to restore your company file and get back to work in case you ever run into a problem with your data. Then, know the IIF import limitations to smoothly execute the process.

Once you're ready to import your IIF payroll data, please follow the steps below.

  1. Sign in to your company file as an admin.
  2. Go to the File menu.
  3. Choose Import.
  4. Select From IIF Files and export your IIF file.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the procedure.

However, if you are using our Standalone Payroll Product, you'll have to export first your payroll transactions into QuickBooks Desktop. Then, import them into your Quickbooks Desktop for Mac. To start with, you'll have to Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop link to get the version of QBDT. It provides license and product numbers you can enter upon installing the sample file. Then, you can refer to and click each article below to see the steps on how to perform the process so you can begin exporting your payroll data and import them to your QBDT for Mac.

Hi, Im not an accountant, I am a business owner of 30 years. I am a plastering contractor about to throw in the towel because Quickbooks stopped syncing checks written to my men into my quickbooks for Mac. I since have migrated my desktop to my online payroll, but the new platform is not so simple for me. I just want the bank transactions to show up in my desktop for Mac like they used to do. but since I purchased the online payroll six months ago the syncing stopped and I had to manually enter in every transaction painstakingly. Can you help me sync my desktop for Mac to my bank accounts?

I can guide you with fixing the issue you're having to sync your bank transactions to your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, @Chelsea123.

First, make sure that you have the latest release for your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. You can install the update from the QuickBooks menu. Check this article for detailed guidance: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. Then, create a backup of your QuickBooks company file to use the file in case you run into some problems.

Once done, make sure the financial institutions' list is up-to-date. You can do it by deleting the fidir.txt file from the Library or Applications. See this article for detailed guidance: Fix online banking issues in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. You can also follow the next solutions provided in this article if the first one didn't work.

After downloading transactions from your bank and you already have similar entries in your register, here's how you can add and match those transactions to avoid duplicates: Add and match transactions in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Let me know if you need further help with syncing your bank and QuickBooks. I'm here to assist. Have a wonderful day!
