This is the first time I had this issue. Don't know how to fix it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your IRS Payment for EIN ********* has been rejected by the IRS agency. The following describes the issue(s) that caused the agency to reject the payment and instructions to resolve the issue:

Issue:  The Tax Payment amount is over the defined threshold.

Next Steps:  The defined threshold payment amount that was setup for the account (defined by the PIN and Internet Password used) is less than the payment amount be sent. You can update your threshold payment amount on the EFTPS site. If you are using multiple bank accounts to pay EFTPS make sure you update the proper account. Once the update takes effect you can resubmit your payment or you could make the payment via the EFTPS website at or by check.

I admire you for posting your concern here in the Community, @Tunac. I'll shed some light and ensure you fix this issue with your tax payment amount over the defined threshold.

Beforehand, I appreciate the steps you've provided above as a workaround to this issue. Thus, these are the solution to your concern.

You'll want to update the threshold payment amount on the EFTPS site first. Then, void the rejected liability check and resubmit the 941 tax payment.

Before doing so, let's update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release and download the latest tax table update to keep your QuickBooks updated to prevent unexpected issues within the program.

Once done, follow these steps to void the rejected e-payment:

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Select Payroll Center.
  3. Click the Pay Liabilities tab.
  4. In the Payment History section, select the E-Payments tab.
  5. Click on the Agency Rejected link.
  6. Click Void Rejected E-payment.

Once settled, we can now resubmit the 941 tax payment.

Furthermore, you can read through these resources to learn more about why your filed e-filed tax form or e-paid tax payment was rejected and how to update your EFTPS internet password for IRS payroll tax payments:

I'm also adding this article that you can read to learn how to check the status of your e-payment: Check E-File or E-Pay Status.
