I want to know if Quickbooks automatically files the mw506 forms needed for Employee withholding and can direct transfer the withholding $Money amount to the state of maryland.  In an automated way through Quickbooks Payroll using ach transfer.

Is quickbooks sophisticated enough to do this?

Please let me know the limitations of automating this

Thanks for reaching out to us, @payrollquestion123. I'm delighted to provide information about how paying and filing taxes works with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

If you use QBDT Payroll Assisted, please know that we pay and file your Maryland local taxes for you. Also, local taxes are calculated and tracked based on your setup.

Moreover, you can pay taxes and file forms electronically in your Maryland state taxes if you have the QBDT Payroll Enhanced. Check out the E-file and e-pay separately, E-file only, or E-pay only section of this article for the entire process: E-file and e-pay state forms and taxes in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced.

However, you’ll need to manually pay and file your Maryland local taxes to your state agency outside of the program for the QBDT Payroll Basic, Standard, or Enhanced subscription. Refer to this article to seamlessly understand the process: Pay and file payroll taxes and forms manually in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

Additionally, check out this article in case you need to view your payroll tax payments and forms in QBDT: View your previously filed tax forms and payments.

I'm all ears if you have more concerns about filing local tax forms in QBDT. Just reply here, and I'll be there to help you out. Have a great day!

The issue is not how to set it up. The issue is that according to a QuickBooks Message State of Maryland does not except the withholding payments.

"Problem: Maryland is not yet accepting new year payments and filings electronically.

Solution: Please wait to send in your 2024 payments/filings. Maryland DOR is in the process of transitioning to a new system. It is expected to be ready to e-file the week of February 19. There will not be any penalties as a result of this delay."

Same issue.  I'm registered in the new Maryland Tax Connect portal but still cannot pay taxes through Quickbooks.
