Florida Quarterly Payroll Form RT6 (third quarter) - Social Security Number Error

On the third quarter Florida payroll report (Form RT6) the second page that has the employees on it now prints horizontally and the social security number that used to print as 9 digits (XXXXXXXXX) now prints XXX-XX-XX and leaves off the last 2 digits.  While most of my forms are e-filed on the FDOR website, I cannot obviously I cannot give this form to a client who manually sends in there forms.

The second quarter was fine but now I go back into the second quarter it also prints incorrectly by leaving off the last 2 digits of the social security number.

I am assuming an update caused this issue.  I have updated my file to the latest update, reset the update and still the issue exists.

I use Quickbooks Desktop 2022.

Is anyone else seeing this problem?

To Quickbooks - Is there an update that will fix this issue sooner than later ?

This is also an issue in 2021 desktop and 2023 desktop versions.

I have called Quickbooks and reported the bug through the software and am waiting to talk to someone who can fix the issue.  The rep that answered the phone was unable to help.

I appreciate your effort in sharing those details, Madeleine34608

I understand the importance of accurate and complete information on these forms. I'm here to ensure your payroll forms are up-to-date.

We've recently released a new payroll update (22316) for QuickBooks Desktop that includes updates to various state forms, including the Florida RT-6 Employer's Quarterly Report. This means that the RT-6 form has been updated to the most current version, ensuring compliance with the latest requirements set by the state of Florida.

To find the most recent payroll update for your QuickBooks Desktop version, select your product year from the list below:

To access the updated RT-6 form, simply download and install the latest payroll update for QuickBooks Desktop. This will ensure that you have the most recent version of the form available within your payroll module. Updating to the latest payroll tax table will also resolve any unknown client-specific tax form printing errors.

If you continue to experience issues with printing paychecks, pay stubs, or forms, you may find this article helpful: Fix printing issues in QuickBooks Desktop. It provides steps to check your printing preferences, printer setup, or print alignment.

Let me know how this goes or if you still have other concerns about payroll forms. I'd be glad to help. Keep safe and enjoy your day!

As per my original post I have done all the updates and am on the one you note.  The payroll updates are up to date.

It is NOT a printing error - it is a format error on the social security number field on page 2 of the RT6 form that only accepts 9 characters.

The format was always XXXXXXXXX and now Quickbooks has it formatted as XXX-XX-XX which uses two of the characters as dashes and leaves off the last 2 digits of the social security number.

I have been working with Quickbooks payroll for over 20 years so rest assured that I know most troubleshooting things to do and have even found work arounds to issues that Quickbooks were very slow to fix.  I did the updates, I reset the updates, I re-did the updates again and I tried different versions of Quickbooks desktop and all are to the 22316 update you reference.  ANd all have the same issue in the social security field.

I shared my screen (something that I hate to do as I was dealing with a social security number issue, (and therefore social security numbers were showing on the screen) and the rep had someone from higher up on her phone but I was not allowed to talk to the "higher up".  I kept asking for technical help but was left with the rep that was just turning pages and having me do things that were not even related to the issue.

I was referred to my IT person as I kept getting told it was a printer issue.  It is not a printer issue.

I am looking for a true fix for this issue as I need to get this particular form done today as my client is leaving the country.

I do not efile the forms through Quickbooks but if this formatting error carries through to the efiled forms then I am sure they will reject from the Florida Dept of Revenue.

I asked yesterday for the person trying to help me to actually go into the form at their end to see what was happening but they would not/did not do that.

So today I start all over again calling Quickbooks to explain again.

I spent over 1 hour and 45 minutes on the phone yesterday with no resolution with Quickbooks.

We just went to see a 3rd quarter 2023 RT6 on the Florida Revenue website to see about amending an RT6 we filed through QuickBooks with social security number problems.  We indicated that we wanted to amend the return and gave the reason from the dropdown arrow to be correcting a social security number.  When we went on the return that showed up for 3rd quarter 2023, the return had all the social security digits and the correct dollar amounts of wages, so the full social security number somehow went to Florida Department of Revenue even though our printed copy was missing two digits.  So, we are hoping this may not be a problem.

That is good to know and I will pass it along to my accountants group that have had theirs rejected when efiling through Quickbooks (even though Intuit shows it as filed.

However, my issue is with my paper file clients as it is printing as xxx-xx-xx on the form so I don't think that is not going to be acceptable with the FDOR.

Yes I am having same problem, done all updated, missing 2 digits of ssn. I appreciate the sharing of your efforts… It’s reassuring that there are others having similar problems, and it’s a QB issue not me.  Unfortunately, doesn’t seem any fix yet. Can’t believe there isn’t an employee that can’t correct this in 10 minutes - pretty basic. Keep us all posted.  Thanks!!!
