Question

For 1099s electronically filed thru QBO, is the ONLY confirmation that the transmission was successful to IRS the "Payment Success" email sent by Intuit? No IRS confirm?

I filed e-filed thru QBO for the 1st time. The tech support rep said the IRS would send an email confirmation. Have not received. Would like to know for sure if further confirm is expected.

I know some possible ways to see the status of your 1099 filings as you sent them via QuickBooks Online (QBO), dlnbrown.

As you e-filed your 1099s through QBO, you may view its status within the Taxes menu.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Taxes menu located at the left navigation panel.
  2. Click the 1099 filings option.
  3. Within the 1099 filings tab, look for the Status column. You can also click the View 1099 if you want to view a PDF copy.

These are the following statuses that you may see within the said column:

  • Not Submitted: You have not yet submitted Form 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC online to the IRS. You can continue editing it.
  • Submitted: You have e-filed the form to the IRS.
  • Received by IRS: The IRS has received your form and is either processing it or has already processed and approved it.

Since you submit your 1099s through e-filing, receiving a confirmation email will take approximately a week after the IRS accepts and confirms submissions. This explains why you haven't received a confirmation from the IRS.

In addition, you can also reach out to the IRS to get further information regarding the said filings.

For more information regarding the status of your e-filings, you can refer to this material: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Online

Furthermore, you can also correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks if in case you need to make corrections after you filed them.
