Question

For employees using time tracking and expense claims: is there an app for them to use with QB online advanced? Or do they have to go through the web?

If you want your employees to track their own time and expense claims within your QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced account, you can set up time tracking and add them as users. I’m glad to show you the steps:

 

  1. Click on the Gear icon, then select Account and settings.
  2. Go to the Time tab.
  3. Choose if you want basic time tracking or a QuickBooks Time account with more time tracking features. Either way, you can access timesheets from QBO.
  4. Select Get Started.


Once turned on, follow the instructions outlined below to add a Time Tracking user.

 

  1. Go back to the Gear icon and select Manage users.
  2. Tap Add user.
  3. Select Time tracking only.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Find the employee you want to add, then select Next.
  6. Enter their contact info and save.

On the other hand, if you have another application for time and expense claims and you'll want to integrate it with QuickBooks, you can visit our Apps Center or your Apps menu to find a tool.


Here’s how:

 

  1. From your left pane, click Apps.
  2. Enter a keyword on the Search field, then select the app.
  3. You can click the Overview, Pricing, Reviews, and FAQs to view the features.
  4. Select Get app now one decided.

This does not answer what I asked.  Once an employee is set up to track time & expense claims, is there an APP the employee can download on their phone so they can enter in their time and send in their receipts?

Thanks for reaching back out on the thread. Allow me to point you in the right direction to get an answer to your question. 

 

To clarify, are you using QuickBooks Time or only QuickBooks Online? 

 

If you're also using QB Time, your employees will be able to enter time through the QB Time mobile app. Check out this guide for more details: Track and manage time

 

If you're only using QuickBooks Online, your employees will need to enter their time through the web browser. Review this article about entering time in QuickBooks Online as a future reference.
