Question

For some reason, our last two payrolls did not post to QB. The direct deposits were made and the tax payments were also made, but not posted to QB?

I know how important it is to view posted prior payroll transactions in your bank register, @bclbookkeeper.

It's odd knowing that the two prior payroll transactions haven't been posting the most recent entries. First, let's ensure that it was paid from the correct bank account. You may want to review two employees' paychecks from the last two payrolls.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Payroll and then select Employees.
  2. Click Paycheck list.
  3. Select the employee's paycheck.
  4. Review the Paid from section.

If it's showing the correct bank account and still not displaying transactions in the bank register, I'd recommend performing basic troubleshooting from your browser to isolate this issue. It could be the cache causes QuickBooks to hide the most recent transactions in the bank register. You can start by using an incognito or private window.

Here are the shortcut keys for each supported browser:

  • For Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, press Command + Shift + N.

If this works, I'd suggest clearing your browser's cache to remove junk internet files. This way, you can optimize the browser's performance. You can also run QuickBooks on other supported browsers to help see if it fixes the problem.

Meanwhile, I'd also suggest downloading your bank account statement from the two prior payroll periods. You can contact the bank directly or log in to online banking to get the bank account statement. This way, you'll know if these transactions are posted in real time based on the paycheck date.

Lastly, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support team if the issue persists. They can review your account file and investigate this further. Please see this article to get a dedicated representative: Contact Payroll Support.
