Question

Has anyone filed the 941 X for ERC? Do I fill in only the lines that need correcting such as 18,26,30,31?

Jumping in to answer your payroll question, Kathy802.

 

Yes, you only need to fill out the lines that you will be correcting. However, Intuit Online Payroll services doesn't support amended or corrected forms at the moment. 

 

You need to process and file the correction outside of QuickBooks Online. Go to these links from the IRS to download the form and instructions:

 

 

Then, follow these steps on how to get a copy of the form that was previously filed:

 

  1. Go to the Taxes menu, then proceed to the Payroll Tax tab.
  2. Click  Quarterly Forms, then look for 941.
  3. Select the period from the drop down, then select View.

I started working on the 2021 ERC stuff to try and figure it out.  We qualify for 2021 due to the downturn in business gross revenue.  When I went to the 941-x it said that QB files those FOR us (Assisted Payroll), but I'm really needing some guidance as to how to start the process and complete the forms... or if QB actually DOES automatically file them for us if we indicate that yes, we do qualify.

 

Needing some guidance here..   is there a link?  A video?  I looked at the IRS site and instructions for completely the 941-x and it's just ... well...  WOW!

 

Thanks in advance for any/all help. 

 

My understanding is the credit is for the employer portion (6.2%) of 70% of the wages of up to the first $7k of wages per quarter per employee.  That is about as far as I've got on understanding it.
