Hi userrandomjackyjunk,

Saving crucial information such as a social security number is one of my priorities. You've got me to help resolve the issue you encounter.

Beforehand, did you receive an error message upon saving the social security number?

In the meantime, let's save the data on an incognito window. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to open one:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Microsoft Edge & Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Control Option P

If you're able to save it, you can go back to a regular browser and clear its cache. Piled cache can also be the reason for some unexpected issues on the opened pages like QuickBooks Online.

You can also opt to use a different supported browser like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.

If you received a prompt saying, This doesn't look like the right social security number. Please check and try again, we have an active investigation about it. With that, I suggest contacting our engineering team so we can add you as one of the affected users. You can do so by clicking the ? Help icon.

As of now, we're unable to provide concrete steps to get around the error message. Rest assured, once we hear a word from our engineering team, either my colleagues or I will update this thread.

Furthermore, if you want to schedule your payroll to run automatically, QuickBooks has your back to help achieve this goal. You can check this article on how you can set it up: Set up and manage your Auto Payroll in QuickBooks Online Payroll.
