We can help you fix strange issues when setting up direct deposit for independent contractors in QuickBooks Online (QBO), -sharewellpartne. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to get you back to business.

I've checked our records and there's no reported case where customers are unbale to add direct deposit information for contractors. To resolve this, we can access your account using an incognito/private browser. It could be your browser's cache and cookies are corrupted causing unexpected behaviors while saving a transaction. Refer to these shortcut keys:

  • Mozilla Firefox / Internet Explorer: Press CTRL Shift P
  • Safari: Press Command Shift N
  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL Shift N

Once done, we can set up direct deposit for contractors again. You can check out this article for the steps and details: Set up and manage direct deposit for your contractors.

If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The overtime data collection can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue. You can also use supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

Once you're done, send a direct deposit to your contractor. Please see Step 3 (depending on which product you have) in this article for the detailed steps: Pay a contractor with direct deposit.

If the problem persists, we recommend contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue. Here's how:

  1. At the top right, click the Help icon and choose the Assistant section.
  2. Type your concern in the Type Something field.
  3. Click Talk to a human.
  4. Hit I still need a human.
  5. Press the Get help from a human.
  6. You'll be routed into the How can we helppage. Then, choose a way to connect with us: Start a chat or Get a callback.

Additionally, we can run 1099 reports in QuickBooks to show contractors that need 1099s by checking out this article: Understand which contractors need 1099s.

Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other concerns or if there's anything else I can assist you with in paying contractors using direct deposit. We'll be here ready to help you out.
