Question

Hello Every trip I track, the distance is always calculated as .01 miles. Tracking is set to always. Has anyone encountered this?

For example, starting distance 123 Main St Washington, DC ending at 456 River Rd Baltimore,MD Quickbooks will calculate the trip distance as .01 miles. This happens for every trip no matter where I go. I keep privacy on and tracking set to always.

I know how difficult it is when your miles aren't calculated correctly in QuickBooks, info-foodislovep. I'm here to make sure that this is fixed.

When you track mileage with the QuickBooks Online mobile app, it automatically records your work trips. Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to resolve this.

To start, please make sure auto-tracking is turned on in the QuickBooks mobile app. I'll show you how:

iOS:

  1. Open the QuickBooks mobile app.
  2. Select the menu icon, then choose All.
  3. Click Mileage.
  4. Choose Auto-track your miles.
  5. Follow Allow location access on-screen instructions.

Android:

  1. Open the QuickBooks mobile app.
  2. Select the menu icon, then click Mileage.
  3. Turn on the Auto-tracking switch.
  4. Give QuickBooks permission to track your location. This will vary depending on your Android Operating System.
    • For Android OS version 10 and below:
      • For location permissions, select Allow. If prompted, select Allow all the time.
      • If you are prompted to allow access to your physical activity, select Allow.
    • For Android OS version 11 and above:
      • For location permissions, select While using the app, then select Ok. Then, choose Allow all the time.
      • If you are prompted to allow access to your physical activity, select Allow.

Once done, check the general location settings on your phone or tablet. Make sure the QuickBooks mobile app can run in the background. Otherwise, it only tracks trips when it's open and active on your screen.

If you're using an Android, please ensure your device isn't connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot. This can interfere with the trip recording accurately.

In case none of these fixes the issue, I'd recommend checking if the app is still tracking miles. For the detailed instructions, please see Step 4 in this article: Fix Mileage Tracking Issues.
