Question

Hi, There used to be a button on a client's profile to make them inactive. Does anyone know where it went? Since QB updated, the button disappeared. Thanks.

Good day to you, @palacioslawqb. I can share some information on how you can manage your client's profile in QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA).

In QBOA, you can still see the Make inactive button by following these steps:

  1. From your QBOA account, go to the Clients menu.
  2. Find the client.
  3. Click the Edit client ▼ dropdown and then Make inactive.

For more information about managing your clients in QBOA, see this article: Manage clients in QuickBooks Online Accountant.

However, if the issue persists, let's perform a few browser troubleshooting solutions. I suggest performing the steps through a private/incognito window. The private window will not save any history, making it a good place to identify browser problems. To save you time, use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you're able to see the Make inactive button, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Clearing the cache or cookies is the best way to get a clean slate for your browser. Otherwise, using other supported browsers can be a good alternative too.

In case you want to add more clients to your QBOA account, you can refer to this article for more information: Add clients to QuickBooks Online Accountant. Different sets of steps are listed, including how you can add a new client to QuickBooks, or even add clients who don't use QuickBooks.
