Hi, using QB desktop Pro Plus 2019. Cannot find my bank in the FI Directory but I know they are avialable in Quicken and QB online. Why are they not avialable here? UBS

Congrats on your first post in the Community, @smpirollo!

 

I'm here to provide some insight on your bank with QuickBooks Desktop 2019. I'm looking at the supported Financial Institution list for that version of QuickBooks Desktop and I'm not seeing UBS, either. This means that the bank simply doesn't allow a connection to QuickBooks Online. I'd recommend getting in touch with your bank to submit feedback to support QuickBooks Desktop connections. In the meantime, you'll need to manually import transactions from that bank. Doing this in QuickBooks Desktop is super simple and only takes a few moments. Check it out:

 

  1. Go to your bank's website and find the option to export your transactions to a .QBO (Web Connect) file. If you can't find this option, get in touch with your bank. They should be able to provide the file to you.
  2. From the QuickBooks File menu, select Utilities then Import and then Web Connect Files.
  3. Select the QBO file you saved, then select Open.
  4. When prompted to Select Bank Account, select:
    • Use an existing QuickBooks account if the account you are importing the transactions into is already set up in QuickBooks.
    • Create a new QuickBooks account if the account you are importing the transactions into is not yet in QuickBooks. Type a name.
  5. Select Continue. You should see a dialogue box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks. Select OK.
  6. Go to the Bank Feeds Center to review your transactions.

Using 2019 QB Desktop, I am having the same problem and have taken the steps you suggested. I still cannot get my bank to feed!   This is what is happening: My bank's download for Quickbooks which is an .IIF format. I selected that download and it will not open when I go to File, Utililites, Import, IIF Files....   The next step is to import IIF file. I select that box and then select the IIf File to import on the next window. It downloads/imports the file. Then I get this message: FILE NOT IMPORTED (we weren't able to import your file)  0 successes, 19 failed transactions. I selected REVIEW NOW and choose to open it in the QB Launcher. X-PROBLEM pops up with this message: You are trying to open a quickbooks file. Only QuickBooks company files can be opened this way. They offer 2 solutions, but nothing works.    HOW DO I GET MY BANK'S DOWNLOADS (.IIF)  IMPORTED TO QUICKBOOKS ?

Hi, @reroflooring.

 

Let's make sure that the bank name from the IIF file has the same name with QuickBooks. Once check, then we can perform the import again. Here's how:

 

  1. Sign in to your company file as an admin.
  2. Go to the File menu.
  3. Select Utilities then Import then click IIF Files.
  4. Click Import IIF.
  5. Find the file, then click OK.
  6. Press Done

 

If you see an error message "File not imported", you can have the option to review and resolve the errors in the IIF file.

 

  1. Pick Review now.
  2. Look for ERROR to see what the problem(s) with the file.
  3. Correct the errors and Save
  4. Close the File, not imported window.
  5. Import the new, corrected.IIF file.
