How can I change the direct deposit link to come out of Checking instead of savings at our Credit Union? QBO Payroll insists on paying all payroll out of checking.

We have QBO-to-Bank links to both savings and checking.  Payroll Direct Deposit setup does not let me specify which source account at our credit union is used.  By default it is coming out of Banking Savings, but Payroll used the QBO Checking register to show the DD pay.

Thanks for reaching out to us here, @octoberfermen.

I'll guide you through how you can change your direct deposit account in QuickBooks. Let's go to the settings to see it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Gear, then choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Scroll towards the Bank accounts section.
  3. Select the Pencil icon to edit.
  4. Change the account.
  5. Click Save and then Done.

Here's how it looks like:

Once you're done changing, all your payroll transaction will be taken out from the new bank account moving forward.

You may also want to check out our Help page for payroll as your reference. It has our general payroll topics with articles, video tutorials, and Community discussions with other QuickBooks users.

Please let me know if you have other payroll questions or with direct deposit accounts. I'll be around for you. Take care and have a lovely weekend.

As of this morning, 3/27/2023....this apparently no longer works!  My in pointing to my preferred checking account which also funds my payroll and always has...However, as of yesterday when I ran payroll it forces the transactions into the QUICKBOOKS CHECKING account.  Called support and being told this is by design and how it will work moving forward.  THIS MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE and should be fixed back to allow the customer to choose the funding and recording account.
