How can I enter a handwritten paycheck for a prior year in quickbooks online so that the employees pay and tax information will be correct on their 2021 w2?

I'm here to help share how to enter paycheck from the prior year, @tconroy.

 

You can add the handwritten paycheck as prior payroll information when setting up your payroll account. Let me show you how.

 

  1. Go to Payroll.
  2. Select Overview.
  3. Click Let's go.

 

A window will let you enter your employee's information for steps 1 - 7. In step 8, you can enter your previous payroll data. Be sure to include all payroll items and enter the correct amount.

 

But if you've already created a paycheck for an employee, you'll have to contact our Payroll Care Team so one of our specialists can help you enter your previous payroll data. To do so:

 

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select Search.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Enter Prior Payroll in the What can we help you with? field.
  5. Select Continue.
  6. Chose a channel where you want to connect with our dedicated support.
