Question

How can I process payroll and not have Quickbooks figure the taxes? Use ADP for most of our payroll and I need to pay an employee through QB for DD taxes don't line up.

I can help you process employee payroll tax-free through QuickBooks, @whitney-american. You're in the right place for answers.

I'll ensure that you can pay your employees by direct deposit without tax deduction. Thus, the taxes which do not correspond will be correct.

You have two options to achieve your goal. Either you exempt the employee or manually edit the taxes when running the payroll. To do this, please follow the appropriate instructions below.

To exempt, here's how:

  1. Go to the  Payroll menu and select Employees.
  2. Choose the employee name in the list and click on the pencil icon beside Pay.
  3. Select the pencil icon under the question What are (employee's name) withholdings?
  4. Check the appropriate taxes under the Tax exemptions section.
  5. Hit Save.

For more information, see this link: Employee payroll tax exemptions.

Ensure to set up your company payroll for direct deposit to pay your employee online. Once confirmed, follow the steps below to edit the taxes manually:

  1. Go to the Payroll tab and choose Run payroll
  2. Select a Pay period and Bank account.
  3. Check the right employee on the list.
  4. If the Pay method is not direct deposit yet, click the employee name and go to How do you want to pay this employee?
  5. Pick Direct Deposit, then complete the required details and hit Done.
  6. Enter the necessary information and click Review payroll
  7. Click the pencil icon and modify the taxes.
  8. Select Submit payroll when finished.
