It's good to hear you're upgrading from QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), phillipschultz. I can help you achieve this so you can enjoy the features included in the QBO subscription.

To begin with, let's download your financial reports onto your device. This way, you'll have a duplicate of this data for safekeeping. Here's how:

  1. Log in to your QBSE account and go to the Reports menu.
  2. Choose a tax period from the Tax details field.
  3. Click its designated dropdown arrow and pick Download.
  4. Select and download each tax period that you have in QuickBooks.
  5. Follow these steps for your Profit and Loss, Mileage log, and Receipts data.

After that, let's migrate your data by upgrading your QBSE to a QBO subscription. Please know that once you move your data to QBO, this action is irreversible. If you don't want to bring your data from QBSE to QBO, you may also Start fresh.

To proceed, please refer to these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Upgrade.
  2. Decide which plan suits best for your business. Then, click Choose plan on the version you prefer to subscribe to.
  3. Review the functionality that comes with upgrading and hit Sounds good.
  4. If you want to migrate your data to QBO, choose Bring my data. Then, follow the steps on categorizing transactions and mark the paid invoices. If not, tap on Start Fresh.
  5. Double-check the summary of transactions and information you're moving to QBO.
  6. Proceed by clicking Continue and then To QuickBooks Online!
  7. Review your payment method. If you need to modify it, select Edit.
  8. Once done, choose Change plan. Then, follow the on-screen process and provide the required details about your business.

However, if you've subscribed to QBSE through Google Play or App Store, manually switch your plan to QBO. For reference, please follow the procedure attached to the Manually switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online section of this link: Switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online.

I'm also adding these articles that could help you set up your QBO company file. This way, you're guided on what aspects need action after switching your plan. It also provides detailed information and steps on how to navigate through the program seamlessly:
