Hello, ritransport19.

The IRS has two deposit schedules which are semiweekly and monthly.

Semiweekly depositors:

Your due date depends on the day of the week you pay your employees.

  • If your paycheck date is Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, your taxes are due the following Wednesday.
  • If your paycheck date is Saturday, Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday, your taxes are due Friday of the same week.

Monthly depositors:

If you’re a monthly payroll tax depositor, your taxes for the current month are due by the 15th day of the following month. If the 15th falls on a weekend or a federal holiday, your taxes are due the next banking day.

However, to change your tax payment date, you need to delete the tax payment and manually record it in QuickBooks.

To delete the payment, let's follow these steps:

  1. Go to Taxes and select Payroll tax.
  2. Click View tax payments you have made under Taxes.
  3. Select the name of the tax payment and modify the date range to locate the transaction.
  4. From the View and Print Form drop-down, select Delete.
  5. Once prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.

For more details about this one, please check out this article: Delete a tax payment.

Once finished, enter the tax payment with the correct period in QBO. Just follow the steps and details in this article: Recording prior tax payments

Incase the tax payment is done electronically, you cannot delete the tax payment, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team for assistance. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and help you with this one. Otherwise, contact the IRS if you can still process the adjustment or if they have better advice.
