Let me help share how you're able to apply a refund, @jp5447.

You can create a bank deposit to apply or record the refund you received from the IRS. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the +New button.
  2. Under OTHER, select Bank deposit.
  3. On the ACCOUNT column, select the taxes paid expense account related to your payroll.
  4. Enter the amount of the refund.
  5. Click Save and close.

However, I'd still recommend contacting your accountant for guidance in choosing the account to use. They can help you decide what to choose based on your business type and account practices done.
