I understand that INTUIT does not believe in advance planning, but wanted to know how do I build a payroll schedule in advance for next year without changing a current employee's schedule?

Good day, @pixidoc. I’m glad to walk you through how to build an advanced payroll schedule in QuickBooks.

To do that, you can create a new pay schedule for next year. Once done, make sure the existing employee's schedule is still selected to prevent changes in your current employment details.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to your Payroll menu, then click Employees.
  2. Select the employee’s name.
  3. Under the Employment details section, click the Pencil icon to edit.
  4. From the Pay schedule dropdown, choose + Add pay schedule.
  5. Fill out the appropriate fields and then tap Save.
  6. Please go back to the Pay schedule dropdown and ensure the current employee's schedule is selected, then press the Save button.

Check out this guide to learn more about setting up, assigning, or updating pay schedules: Set up and manage payroll schedules.

In case you have worker’s information that you’d like to change, such as bank account, address, or W-4 filing info, you can use this reference to get started: Edit or change employee info in payroll.

Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions or concerns about managing your employees. I'll be here anytime to help. Have a good day, and keep safe always!
