You can still cancel a paycheck by either deleting or voiding it. This will depend on whether or not you have sent it to QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll.
If you have not yet sent the paycheck, you can still delete it. Deleting it does not affect your payroll tax filing.
If you have already sent the paycheck to QBO Payroll, you need to void it. Please take note that voiding the transaction does affect payroll tax filing.
To delete or void the paycheck. simply follow these steps:
Go to the Payroll menu and select Employees.
Click the Paycheck list, then select the check you'd like to delete.
Delete or void the paycheck.
Select the I understand that this action cannot be undone checkbox.
Choose Delete Paycheck or Void Paycheck to confirm the action.
In case the deadline to cancel the payments passed, your workers will receive the money in their bank accounts on the pay date. Although, you can void the payments and collect the money back from your employee or contractor. If this is not possible, you may qualify to request a direct deposit reversal.
