It's important to keep your tax rates updated in QuickBooks Online, @rhinosoritic. Let me provide some insights and route you to the right support for help.

The option to modify the State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) rate is currently unavailable in QBO. It'd be best to get in touch with our Payroll Support team for them to update the rate in a more secure environment. Here's how to reach support:

  1. Log in to your QBO company.
  2. Click on Help (?).
  3. Hit Contact Us.
  4. Type in your concern about updating the rate, then click on Let's talk.
  5. Finally, select a way to connect with us.

If you want to start chatting with a support expert, see these links to select your product.

Moreover, note the support hours to make sure they're available for assistance.

Once the SUI rate is changed, QuickBooks Online will proactively modify your paychecks to reflect your tax liability.

You may have overpaid if your rate was inaccurate in a prior quarter. Or you owe the state more tax money and must make a tax payment.

Please let us know if you have clarifications or need more help with taxes, payroll, or QuickBooks in general. We'll do our best to respond as soon as we can. Take care of yourself!
