Hi there, @jblr316.

Let me share with you some insights on how QuickBooks handles your data.

The option to change QuickBooks Online's default file location is unavailable. The program is a web-based accounting software that is hosted on a remote server.

With the online version, your data will be stored in the cloud so that it can be accessed by multiple users anywhere, anytime. This also uses internet technologies like your web browser and smartphone to help you perform business accounting functions.

You can export your report and data list into individual Excel files. This way, you can download them into your local hard drive. Let me show you how:

  1. Click the Settings ⚙ icon from the tool bar.
  2. Under Tools, select Export Data.
  3. On the Reports tab, set the date range.
  4. Add or remove items from the Reports and Lists tabs by toggling the slider.
  5. Select Export to Excel.

Exported reports will include the data from posting transactions such as invoices, receipts, bills, balances, and so on.

If you want to export non-posting information that's not included in Reports and Lists, follow the steps in this article: How to Export Non-Posting Transactions and Attachments.

There are also other ways to get your data out of QuickBooks. To get more details, click here: Export Data out of QuickBooks Online.
