The entry is for a 401k deduction made before the plan was active. I simply need to reverse the entry and add it for a later date.

Hi h20kj-msn-com!

Good to see you here. Let me assist you with the 401(k) deduction.

It seems that you entered the 401(k) deduction using a journal entry. If so, it'd be best to seek some help from your accountant to correct it. This is to ensure that it won't mess up your data cause journal entry is a bit complicated.

I added this link for your reference in editing a journal entry. This includes steps on how to reverse it: Reverse or delete a journal entry. You can also follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the account you created the journal entry for, then select View register.
  3. Locate the journal entry in the account register. Select it to expand the view, then select Edit.
  4. Select Reverse, then Save.

You can also check this article: Run reports in QuickBooks Online. This includes steps on how to run, customize, and save financial and payroll reports.

Post again here if you need help from me. I'll assist you. Wishing you all the best!
