How do I e-file a delinquent 941?

Hello there, ffttreas.

 

Welcome aboard to the QuickBooks Community. It would be my pleasure to provide additional clarification about e-filing a delinquent form.

 

You must prepare amendment form to make corrections to a submitted 941 form. However, these types of filing is still unavailable in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

 

If you encounter an error upon e-filing and it's not yet transmitted,  you may be able to delete and resubmit. Here's how:

 

  1. On the left panel, click Taxes.
  2. Go to the Payroll Tax tab.
  3. Below the Quarterly Forms option, click View Archived Forms.
  4. Click the link for the submitted form.
  5. Select Delete, then confirm the deletion.

If you're unable to delete the submission by following the steps above, you'll need to prepare amended filing. I'm adding an article below for additional insight on this:

This does not answer any question. When I try to file a 941 for QTR1 of 2021 It says the form is invalid and will not let me submit it. QB Enterprise 2019 Contractor

Let's first make sure that you get the latest payroll updates so you always have the newest payroll tax table and fixes. Here's how:

 

  1. Click Employees, then choose Get Payroll Updates.
  2. Check the Download Entire Update box.
  3. Select Download Latest Update. An informational window appears when the download is complete.

 

Once done, file your 941 tax form again. If the same thing happens, I recommend reaching out to our Payroll support team. They use a specific tool to pull up your account in a secure place and determine what's preventing you to file 941 for QTR1 of 2021. Let me guide you how:

 

  1. Navigate to Help, then click QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern. Example: Need help to file 941 for QTR1 of 2021.
  4. Then, select Continue.
  5. Choose either Start messaging or Get a callback.
