Just starting to use QBO Payroll in mid-October but I paid payroll during first part of October. I've entered year-to-date 9/30 so how do I enter payroll history for October?

Glad to see you in the Community, mstjseegers.

I'd be happy to give details and help you add the payroll.

Seeing that the payroll you are trying to record is within the fourth quarter, you can manually create the paycheck.

Before doing so, if you have the Direct Deposit enabled for your company, please make sure to change the employees' pay method. This way, your employees will not be paid again. This process is only recording the paychecks for the first part of the quarter.

To run payroll and change the Pay method, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to Payroll > Employees.
  2. Click the Run payroll button.
  3. Select the pay schedule and click Continue.
  4. Choose the account from the Pay from drop-down menu. This is the account where the money was taken out.
  5. Select the correct Pay period and Pay date.
  6. Put a check mark on the employees you want to pay and select Paper check from the Pay Method column.
  7. Hit the Preview payroll and then Submit payroll.
  8. When done, click Finish payroll.

Once recorded, you can run the Payroll Details report in the Reports tab to see your year-to-date information.
