Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, larbut.

I've included instructions for verifying whether we filed your W2 electronically in QuickBooks to guarantee that your tax form is managed efficiently.

Please know that once the Automated Taxes and Forms option is ON in your account, you let us pay your taxes and file your forms on your behalf. To verify if the said option is enabled on your end, you have to go to the Payroll Settings section.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top ⚙.
  2. Choose Payroll Settings under Your Company.
  3. Go to the Taxes and forms section and click the pencil ✎ icon to check if it shows On.

Once you verify that it's enabled, we file tax forms such as 941,944,940,943, W2, and W3. You'll then receive an email letting you know it’s complete and you can check the status of your filing on the status page. You can follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Taxes, then Payroll Tax.
  2. Select Filings.
  3. Select Filter and choose the form or report you want to see. Or scroll down to the filings under Done. You'll see the status next to the tax name.

Additionally, you can also contact our QuickBooks Payroll Support Team. They're the best support group as they can request account information in a secure environment. This way, they'll be able to verify if we are the ones who e-filed your W2's.

In case you need guidelines to wrap up this year's payroll and prepare for the next. You can read this article: Year-end Checklist for QuickBooks Online Payroll.

If you have additional questions about filing your payroll tax forms in QuickBooks, don't hesitate to reply to this post. I'll be willing to lend a hand, larbut. Keep safe and have a good one.
