Question

How do I pay federal taxes that I missed in 2021? I only see an option to make a payment for 2022.

I missed quarterly deadlines from 2021 (this is my first year working self-employed), and I want to find a way to pay these through turbo-tax if I can. Do I need to file my taxes to do this now?

Good day, @andersonjared132.I'm here to make sure you'll get to pay your past-due quarterly taxes.

When it comes to paying your quarterly taxes, there are a few options. You can use your bank account, debit card, or credit card. Take a look at this IRS guidance for all of the details on how to make the payment.

If your account is already enrolled, you can also pay your taxes through the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS).

After that, you may record the tax payment in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Here's how:

  1. Click on the Transactions menu, then Add transaction.
  2. In the description field, type the "quarterly federal tax payment (Date and fiscal year)."
  3. Enter the amount and the date you made the payment.
  4. Go to the Select a category option and choose Taxes, then Estimated Taxes.
  5. Then select Save.

You can check out this article for more information: Pay federal estimated quarterly taxes in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I've also added this article to learn more about late payments for federal estimated quarterly taxes.

If you need any additional help with your federal taxes, please don't hesitate to leave a reply. I'll be there to help you out. Take care always!
