Former employee (when I was on QB desktop) coming back (now on QB online) but I can't reactivate them or update info. All I get when I try and save new info is this error
"QBO ID is NULL or EMPTY"

Ended up being a back end sync issue. I had to call support but they got it handled.

I'm happy to assist you in fixing the Null error on your QBO, @kpierson67.

The personal information section must filled out with all the necessary details. If you entered the employee's name incorrectly, it could result in an error. In the meantime, I suggest using a private window that doesn't store files. Browsers use cache and cookies to load web pages faster.

To open an incognito window, you can refer to these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Press Crtl+Shift+P
  • Microsoft Edge & Mozilla Firefox: Crtl+Shift+N
  • Safari: Press Command+Shift+N

If you still have the same result, I suggest utilizing another supported browser. It will help us identify if the issue is specific to your current browser. When you're not receiving the error, consider returning to your regular browser and clearing its cache and cookies.

However, if you still encounter the error. I recommend contacting our support for further investigation. Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks account
  2. On the upper right corner of your screen, click Help.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Choose how to connect with us.
  • Start a chat with a support expert.
  • Get a call back from the next available expert.

Moreover, let me share this article to learn more about downloading your data: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

Keep me posted if you still have concerns about activating and updating your employee's information. Have a great day, and take care.
