Question

How do I see my separate mileage from 7/1-12/31? I don't see a way to search a date range.

Thanks for posting your concern here in the Community, @alisonagnew. There's a way to enter a custom date range in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBO), so we can view the specific mileage tracked, and I'm here to show you how.

If you travel for business and want to deduct your expenses, it's best to use the QBSE app to track your mileage. We can use the mobile app to automatically track your business miles or add trips manually if you forget to bring your device with you.

We can also enter a specific range to filter the date showing on the Mileage page of your QBSE. To do that:

  1. On your QBSE account, go to Miles.
  2. In the Tax Year dropdown, select Custom date.
  3. Enter the dates in the Start date and End date fields.
  4. Once done, please click Save.

When the time comes to file your taxes, we'll need your vehicle and mileage to claim your travel expenses. In QBSE, we can save your miles into a CSV file. This format should be compatible with the majority of tax software and apps. This way, it allows us to share your information with your tax preparer or accountant.

Please keep in touch if you need further assistance with mileage tracking in QBSE. We'll be here anytime to answer your queries. Stay safe, and have a great day!
