Thank you for taking the time to post in the Community concerning payroll deductions in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @deann3.

In line with setting up your insurance provider, I'd recommend contacting them to see if they support integration with QuickBooks. This is to ensure that the deductions that will be taken out of the employee's payroll will be processed accordingly.

Once verified, you may need to set up a new payroll deduction to be taken from the employee. You can follow the steps below to do so:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu and navigate to the Employee's tab.
  2. From there, select the employee to whom you want to set up the payroll item.
  3. Scroll down to the Deductions & contributions section, and select Start or Edit.
  4. Hit the + Add Deduction/contribution. Then, choose Health Insurance from the Deduction/contribution dropdown, and select either Medical InsuranceVision Insurance, or Dental Insurance.
  5. For pre-tax deduction items that are not listed such as commuter benefit, AFLAC accident or cancer, etc, please select Vision Insurance.
  6. Enter the provider's name in the Description field, and select how this deduction is calculated. Then, enter the amount or percent per paycheck.
  7. After that, select Pre-tax insurance premium or Taxable insurance premium.
  8. If you to contribute the same amount, enter an amount per paycheck for the company contribution and select Save and Done when finished.

You can also refer to the Edit or Remove an Insurance Item section in this article to make changes or remove them from your employee's setup: Set up and manage payroll items for your insurance benefit plan.

Furthermore, QuickBooks offers various payroll reports that provide a comprehensive overview of your employee's gross pay, deductions, and tax information. To gain further insight into these reports and their accessibility, you can refer to this article: Run payroll reports
