Hello, mountainhightruc.

I can see why you wanted the State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) tax turned off. I'll give you some tips on how to do this.

You'll have the option to exempt your employee from SUI in QuickBooks Online to prevent the software from calculating it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then select Employees.
  2. Click your name and proceed to the Employee Details or Pay section, then select Edit (pencil icon).
  3. Proceed to the Withholdings section and click the Edit (pencil icon) again.
  4. Scroll down to the Tax exemptions section. Then, uncheck the unemployment tax.
  5. Click Done.

I'm including a resource that offers helpful details on how to maintain compliance with payroll and financial regulations: 10 expert tips on how to stay payroll compliant.
