Question

How do you change payroll to show the period dates for the week prior? We pay in arrears and I am having difficulty finding where to change the information.

Welcome to the Community, @audrey33. I'll ensure you can change the payroll period dates in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Yes, there's a way to edit a pay period in QuickBooks Online. If you're trying to change the date on a previously run payroll, you can delete and recreate it instead.

Otherwise, if you want to edit a pay period of an existing paycheck or a payroll that's not yet been created, I'd be glad to show you how:

  1. In the left menu, click Payroll.
  2. Go to the Employees tab.
  3. Click Run payroll on the upper right, and choose an employee.
  4. Enter the necessary information.
  5. Select Preview payroll.
  6. Click Submit payroll.

Here's an article about this process for more details: Set Up And Manage Payroll Schedules.

Moreover, I've added this helpful resource to guide you in getting ready for the tax season: The year-end checklist for QuickBooks Online Payroll.

I'll get back to this thread if you need more help with processing payroll. I'd be glad to help. Have a great day.
