How do you track electric vehicle mileage reimbursement since the IRS rate is different but in quickbooks online it's defaulted to only the gas mileage reimbursement rate

I'll walk you through the process of tracking vehicle mileage reimbursement in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @grace-anazaomini.

All we need to do is set up a mileage reimbursement expense account and choose Auto as the Detail Type. Then give it the name Vehicle mileage reimbursement.

First and foremost, you must create a vendor profile for your employee. I'll show you how:

  1. Go to the Expenses menu and select Vendors.
  2. Enter your employee's information and give your employee's vendor account a unique name (add Mileage to the end so you know which vendor profile to pick to track mileage).
  3. Click Save.

Then create a mileage reimbursement expense account:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Select New.
  3. From the Account Type drop-down menu, select Expenses.
  4. In the Detail Type drop-down menu, select Auto.
  5. Give the account a unique name that's easy to identify, and select Save and Close.
