Hi there, @Mary G1.

Let me step in and assist you in updating your EFTPS password.

If you're using E-Pay in your QuickBooks Desktop, you'll have to change your QuickBooks Desktop password to match your new EFTPS Internet password the next time you make an E-Payment.

Before updating your EFTPS Internet password, you'll have to update your QuickBooks to the latest version and download the latest tax table updates. Keeping your QuickBooks updated prevents unexpected issues within the program.

Please follow these steps to update your EFTPS password.

  1. Go to the Payroll Center, then select Pay Liabilities.
  2. Choose the federal liability to e-pay in the Pay Taxes & Other Liabilities section, then click View/Pay.
  3. Verify the E-Payment is selected, and select E-pay.
  4. Remove the checkmark in the Remember My Information for the next time box.
  5. Enter the 4-Digit PIN and new EFTPS Internet Password.
  6. Fill out all the information needed in the fields.
  7. Click the Submit button.

Re-enter your 4-Digit PIN and EFTPS Internet password in the next time you make e-payment. Then, select the Remember My Information for the next time box.

I've also added an article to help you learn more about E-Pay tax liability payments.

Let's make sure you'll be able to E-pay your payroll tax, max129-ss.

Once you set up your federal e-file and e-pay, you'll have to get PINs for each. The e-file PIN is a 10-digit number while your e-pay PIN is a 4-digit number.  If you don't have one, you'll want to contact the IRS. Then, uncheck the Remember my information for next time box, and make sure to update your PIN. Select the Remember my information for next time box again to save the new information. I've attached a screenshot for your guide:

For more information on how to handle payroll e-file and e-pay rejections, read this article: Handle Payroll E-file and E-Pay Rejections. Moreover, you can go to the E-Payments tab so you can check the status of the e-payed federal tax. You can check out this article for the complete information: Check e-pay status. This contains instructions on how to check an e-file status.

Let us know if you have any concerns about e-filing your payroll tax. We're here to help you all the time.

Do I have to purchase Quick Books pro 2022 in order to update eftps password in quick books. I have 2021

February 24, 2022

Welcome to the Community, BG110.

You can update your Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) internet password on the official EFTPS website. You won't need to purchase a new version of QuickBooks to accomplish this process. 2021 still functions with electronic tax payments.

After you've updated your EFTPS password, you'll want to be sure to change it in QuickBooks before making e-payments.

Here's how:

  1. Update your books to the latest release and download our latest tax table.
  2. Access your Payroll Center, then open the Pay Liabilities tab.
  3. In your Pay Taxes & Other Liabilities section, choose a federal liability to e-pay.
  4. Click View/Pay.
  5. Verify that E-payment is selected and hit E-pay.
  6. Untick the Remember My Information for next Time checkbox.
  7. Enter your 4-Digit PIN and new EFTPS Internet password.
  8. Specify any missing information.
  9. Select Submit.

Next time you make an e-payment, re-enter the 4-Digit PIN and EFTPS Internet password, then turn on your Remember My Information for next Time option.
