Question

How to create a paycheck for a tax period that has passed?

I wrote my employees a paycheck and paid them, but did not enter it into quickbooks until a few days later. I keep getting a message that I should choose a closer date because a tax payment may be late. The system still says the same thing even though I have changed the check date on payroll. What do I do?

I'll be glad to assist you with your previous paycheck, @VEV_1984.

You'll have to record the paycheck in QuickBooks instead of writing it. Since the paychecks are from the previous pay period, you'll need to contact our Payroll Support. This way, they can assist you with the adjustment.

Here's how to reach out:

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter a brief description of the issue. Then, tap Continue.
  4. Click either Chat or Callback.
