Hi there, JSBG. Thanks for reaching out to the Community.

You can export your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop for Windows, then convert your Windows file into one configured for Mac (MAC.qbb). Afterwards, the backup file can be imported into your books.

Here's how:

  1. If you don't already have a copy, download and install QuickBooks Desktop for Windows on a compatible computer. In the event you don't have a license to QuickBooks Desktop for Windows, you can download a trial to use for this process.
  2. Launch QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
  3. In your top menu bar, go to File, then choose Close Company.
  4. Leave QuickBooks Desktop for Windows open.
  5. Sign in to QuickBooks Online and download our migration tool. Afterwards, you'll prepare your file and select which data you'd like to include in it.
  6. Once you've finished running the migration tool and verifying everything exported correctly, you can begin converting your company data into a QuickBooks Desktop for Mac backup file (MAC.qbb).

There's definitely some things you'll want to be aware of as well, such as limitations. For example, paychecks and liability payments will export as regular checks. If a check's number field is blank in QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop for Windows will automatically assign a number. This can lead to duplicate check numbers appearing after the conversion's completed. Additionally, their pay/liability periods also won't be exported.

You can learn more details about the limitations involved with converting from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop in the following resource: Limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome day!

Good to have you join this thread, @dkw110950.

You can only move your QuickBooks Online (QBO) payroll data to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), then convert the file to the Mac platform.

You can follow the steps shared by my colleague ZackE above. Another way is to look for a third-party app that has the feature you need. Simply go to the Apps menu in your QBO or visit our QuickBooks App Store for reference.

I understand how beneficial it is to your business to seamlessly move your payroll data to your Mac platform. Rest assured our Development team is working diligently in enhancing QuickBooks.

I recommend sending your feedback to them. This way, they can review your suggestion and might consider implementing it in future updates. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then select Next to submit feedback.

Once everything is set, you might want to utilize these articles for guidance in seamlessly managing your QBDT for Mac:

@JSBG

If you don't have any Windows machine to convert your QBO data to QBD, consider purchasing a 3rd party conversion service to QBD Mac.
