I ran payroll with one employee getting a paper check. I see the transaction in my payroll reports but the net check is not showing up in cash account.

Hi rarceneaux,

Thank you for posting in the QuickBooks Community today! Let's get your your payroll posted into your cash account.

You would need to change the payroll bank account in your payroll settings before creating a paycheck. That's the normal process if you need to temporarily use a different account on a particular payroll.

What we can do now is delete the paycheck transaction, change the account in the settings, and recreate the paycheck. Then, edit the Payroll settings again to assign the bank account you usually use for payroll.

Save a copy of the paystubs and delete the paycheck:

  1. Go Payroll on the left-hand side.
  2. Choose Employees and click Paycheck list.
  3. Select the paycheck to open it.
  4. Click Print to print or save a copy of the paystub.
  5. Click the down arrow in the Make adjustment button below the net pay amount.
  6. Choose Delete and confirm the deletion.

Change the bank account in the Payroll settings:

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Payroll settings.
  2. Select the pencil icon for Accounting.
  3. On the next page, click the pencil icon for Bank Account.
  4. Select your cash account in the drop list on the slide window.
  5. Click Save.

You can check your cash account in your Chart of Accounts after creating a paycheck, and you should see it posted in there.

I'm only a comment away should you have any other concerns with your payroll. Have a good one!
