It's great to have you here in the Community space, Shinny.

I'll walk you through running a test payroll in QuickBooks Online.

To get started, please ensure you have created your QuickBooks Online account with payroll or a standalone payroll account. Go to our website https://quickbooks.intuit.com/payroll/pricing/ to create a free trial account. Make sure to turn on the Radio button to get the trial version, and then you can select either bundle payroll or payroll only.

Once done, set up a test employee and enter any numbers in the Social Security number field (9-digit numbers). I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then select the Employees tab.
  2. Click Add an employee.
  3. Enter First nameLast name, and Email address.
  4. Turn off the Employee self-setup to manually complete the information of your demo employee.
  5. Hit Add employee.
  6. Fill in all the necessary information.
  7. Click Done.

You'll see a list of your employees on your payroll once you've filled out all the required information for each employee. Please use the following screenshot as your visual guide:

The next step is to run your payroll once you have completely set up employees. To complete payroll in QBO, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu and select Employees.
  2. Click on Run payroll.
  3. Choose a pay schedule for your payroll and click on Continue.
  4. Select Preview payroll details or Submit payroll.
  5. Hit Finish Payroll.
