Question

I already submitted payroll via direct deposit and the employee has changed bank accounts. What can I do to fix this?

The direct deposit is pending right now. Can I delete the check, change the bank account and then resubmit the check? Will that delay his deposit?

I'm here to help and guide you in the right direction on how to fix your direct deposit concern, waterworxcarwash.

Let’s go to the Paycheck List page and delete the transaction from there. Then, update your employee's bank account information.

You can delete a paycheck in QuickBooks Online (QBO) if the payroll status has not yet been processed. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu on the left panel and select Employees.
  2. Click the Paycheck list link under Run Payroll.
  3. Tap the Filter drop-down and choose the correct period from the Date Range drop-down.
  4. Press the Apply button for the changes to take effect.
  5. Tick the box of the paycheck you wish to remove and select Void or Delete.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the deletion process.

For more in-depth information, you can go over the following reference: Delete or void employee paychecks.

Next, re-create the paycheck using your employee's updated direct deposit account information. If you are unable to void or delete the transaction, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team for further assistance. They can advise you on how to deal with the issue, and guide you through the steps to fix it.

Here's how to get the contact details:

  1. In your company, go to the Help icon in the upper right to display the support window.
  2. Choose the Assistant tab and enter a brief description of your concern in the Type something field.
  3. Tap the Get help from a human link and type a phrase or keyword in the What can we help you with? box and click the Continue button to view the support options.
  4. Select Chat to connect with a live expert, and Callback to speak with an agent.

Regarding your other concern, changing the direct deposit information and deleting the paycheck may cause some delay. This is because our payroll specialists will have to make an adjustment to correct your payroll data.
