Thanks for reaching out to us, Jonny4.

I'll share some details about this error when entering your wife's social number.

The system will prompt you to enter a valid Social Security Number (SSN) if the number is wrong. I encourage you use this link to verify her SSN: Social Security Number Verification Service.

If you receive the confirmation, please re-enter it again in this format XXX-XX-XXXX since you might have typed in the incorrect number.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then Employees.
  2. Select your employee.
  3. From Personal Info, select Edit.
  4. Next to the Social Security number, select View/Edit to update the info.
  5. Once done, hit Save.

If the problem still exists, you can try various troubleshooting steps to identify its root cause and determine whether it is a browser-related one. Let's start by opening your account using a private/incognito window. Use the following shortcut keys below:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + P for Internet Explorer or Firefox.
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N for Chrome.
  • Hold down Command + Shift + N for Safari.

You can clear the cache and cookies of your web browser if you're able to add her SSN with no issues. This will refresh the system and delete out-of-date information that's causing this unexpected behavior in the software. Alternatively, you can use different supported browsers.
