Question

I am trying to pay a new hourly employee but the payroll table does not allow me to input any hours for him.

The table doesn't have the box under regular pay hours or OT hours. What step did I miss? I have him active, paper check, paid every Friday.

Welcome to the Community, molumber.

I'll make sure that you're able to successfully run payroll for the new hourly rate employee.

If these pay types were properly set up when you added the new employee, you should be able to enter regular and overtime hours. To resolve this, double-check that the employee is set to hourly and Overtime Pay is included.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then the Employees tab.
  2. Select the new employee to open their profile.
  3. Click the Edit under the Pay types section.
  4. Ensure the employee pay type is set to Hourly and checkmark the box for Overtime Pay under the Common pay types field.
  5. Once done, hit Save.

If everything is in order and you're still unable to enter regular and overtime hours, you may be experiencing a browser-related issue. If this is the case, let's perform some troubleshooting procedures to fix it. Begin by accessing your account through an incognito window. The following are the shortcut keys to use:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

Try running payroll again after you've logged in. If it works, you can return to your regular browser and clear your browser cache to restart the system. Alternatively, you can use different supported browsers.
