I can't run payroll it says my employee profiles need attention but there is nothing flagged when I go into the account. What do I need to do?

What do I need to do to my employee profiles to be able to run payroll?  Why is it stating I already paid the taxes for the current pay period and I haven't?

Upon checking here, there's an open investigation (INV-98996) regarding employee profiles that require attention during payroll processing.

 

I recommend contacting our support team so they can add you to the list of affected users. You'll be notified through email once the issue has been resolved.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company.
  2. Go to the Help (?) menu.
  3. Choose Contact Us.
  4. Type in your concern, then select Let's talk.
  5. Pick a way to connect with us.

 

Additionally, it's possible that the Automate taxes and forms option is enabled in payroll settings, causing paid taxes to appear when they haven't been paid. To verify, you can follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Payroll settings.
  2. Review and check the Taxes and forms section.

 

Once this option is enabled, we'll automatically handle the payment and filing of your federal and state payroll taxes.

 

However, if it's not enabled, a cache-related issue is likely causing the problem. If this is the case, you can perform some troubleshooting steps. You can use a private or incognito window to rule out cache problems in your browser. Here are the shortcut keys:

 

  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Safari browser: Command + Shift + N

 

Next, log in to your QBO account and check if it still states that you've already paid the taxes. If it works, you can clear your browser's cache. This removes the webpage data that's causing the issue. If a private browser doesn't work, you can use other installed supported browsers as another option.
